"Small Paintings; Big World: Fifty Years of Art by Li Jin Ming - the Book" Now Available for Purchase Online

We wrote a book for the exhibition: Small Paintings; Big World: Fifty Years of Art by Li Jin Ming.  The book contains, not only pictures of all of the ninety-some paintings, included in the exhibition, but also other photos of and information about the artist, as well as stories and analysis.  The text is in both English and Chinese.

The paintings, in the exhibition, cover a period of fifty years and have been kept in Li's personal collection, so, they are very special, and many of them have never appeared in public or in books before this exhibition.  Moreover, they cover Li's entire career as an artist, including some daily sketches that Li made, as a teenager working on a collective farm, back in the 1950's.  Through these paintings, we are able to not only track Li's development, as an artist, but also to see the development of the PRC, during all of those years, in paintings.

The book was written by Craig Mattoli, the head of Leona Craig Art, International, and was designed and assembled by the staff at Leona Craig, in Guangzhou, China.  The stories behind each of the paintings, as told by Li, accompany each painting, and an analysis of Li's development, as an artist, is a thread that weaves through the entire book, written by Mattoli.

You can order a copy of the book, on line, on the Leona Craig Website where you can also see some excerpts from the book.  It is 68 pages, soft bound, published by Fine Art Publishing Company of China, Hong Kong, and costs $30, shipped outside of China.

Jin Ming Li (Jin Ming Lee) is a fine Guangdong China artist, who studied art under Xu Jian Bai, a student of the great Lin Feng Mian, one of the fathers of Modern Chines Oil Painting.  You can see more of Li's paintings on our website on the Jin Ming Lee Pages  and you can see the exhibition, online on our Jin Ming Lee Exhibition Pages.
